North Texas Tornado Track and Intensity Map for April 3, 2012

Seventeen tornadoes have been confirmed thus far across the Dallas/Fort Worth area and broader north Texas covered by NWS Ft Worth/Dallas (FWD) following the tornado outbreak on April 3, 2012. All NWS FWD tracks are shown in the map above. Additionally, NWS Shreveport has confirmed three tornadoes further northeast (off the map) in Texas as well as one in Louisiana, bringing the event total to 21.

Here’s the list as it stands:

EF0: 16 (4 in Shreveport’s jurisdiction, one in Louisiana)
EF1: 1
EF2: 3
EF3: 1

NORTH LOUISIANA AND NORTHEAST TEXAS FOR STORMS THAT OCCURRED ON
TUESDAY APRIL 3RD.

LOCATION: BOWIE COUNTY…8 MILES SOUTHWEST OF DE KALB
RATING: EF0
PATH LENGTH: 2.3 MILES
PATH WIDTH: 50 YARDS

DETAILS: A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN 8 MILES SW OF DE KALB TX…
JUST WEST OF CR 4306 WHERE A FEW TREES WERE SNAPPED AND
UPROOTED. THE TORNADO CROSSED CR 4306 AND CONTINUED ENE
REMAINING OVER OPEN COUNTRY WHERE MORE TREES WERE
SNAPPED AND UPROOTED. THE TORNADO LIFTED JUST WEST OF
THE INTERSECTION OF CR 4305 AND US 259. MAXIMUM WINDS
WERE 65 – 75 MPH.

DETAILS: A TORNADO TOUCED DOWN 1 MILE ESE OF RODESSA
LA…ALONG PITTS ROAD WHERE AN OUTBUILDING WAS DAMAGED
AND TREES WERE SNAPPED. THE TORNADO CONTINUED
ENE…UPROOTING 2 LARGE TREES…WITH ONE FALLING ON A
BUILDING ALONG RODESSA CHURCH ROAD. MORE TREES WERE
SNAPPED ALONG THE PATH…BEFORE LIFTING AROUND ATLANTA
MIRA ROAD. MAXIMUM WINDS WERE 65 – 75 MPH.

LOCATION: RED RIVER COUNTY…10 MILES SOUTH OF CLARKSVILLE

DETAILS: A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ALONG CR 4610…WHERE A FEW
TREES WERE UPROOTED. THE TORNADO TRAVELED NORTH NORTHEAST
JUST EAST OF CR 910…WHERE ADDITIONAL TREES WERE SNAPPED
AND UPROOTED. THIS TORNADO CONTINUED ACROSS CR
4605…SNAPPING LARGE LIMBS OFF OF SEVERAL MORE TREES
BEFORE LIFTING. THE MAXIMUM WINDS WERE 65 – 75 MPH.

LOCATION: FRANKLIN COUNTY…2 MILES EAST OF HAGANSPORT
RATING: EF0
PATH LENGTH: 1.4 MILES
PATH WIDTH: 25 YARDS

DETAILS: A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT 2 MILES EAST OF
HAGANSPORT IN AN OPEN FIELD JUST NORTH OF FM 71…WHERE
SEVERAL TREES WERE SNAPPED. THE TORNADO TRAVELED
NORTHEAST ACROSS CR NE 2130…WHERE A TOP OF A TREE WAS
SNAPPED OFF…WITH THE TORNADO CONTINUING ACROSS ANOTHER
OPEN FIELD…SNAPPING LARGE BRANCHES AND UPROOTING A
LARGE TREE. THE TORNADO LIFTED NEAR THE SULPHUR RIVER.
MAXIMUM WINDS WERE 65 – 75 MPH.
