Our chase trip was so successful, we decided to head home early rather than chase scraps for another week. We made a lot of good decisions and some we’ll think about for a long while to come given what happened May 31.
It was a crazy day for chasers, many of whom were overtaken by a tornado near El Reno. We decided not to chase near Oklahoma City, so came away from a PDS day without much to show for it.
We saw a lot of supercells in Oklahoma, but no tornadoes. Got a new time lapse of the Bennington tornado from May 28 up though!
We came up against a large tornado on May 28 in Kansas. It didn’t move much either.
May 27 was another tornadic supercell day, but it was a big HP beast, and we didn’t see much more than a quick spinup or two. Still reliving that Nebraska glory though… and not moving much for today.
Today has a great setup to chase tornadoes in Kansas, and we’re on our way south from Kearney, Nebraska to get to the target area. Hoping to get a tornado today as it has been about a week since our last one. We’re not complaining,
Yesterday we ran north to a storm that popped up fairly early in the afternoon northwest of Rapid City, SD and tracked it southeastward to near Wasta along I-90. The storm did not appear to produce a tornado despite its very long life, but it
We’ve been doing a lot of driving for not seeing tornadoes this week, though we have been on some good storms in the meantime. Hoping that the Black Hills produces for us today, and we may even end up in southeastern Montana for tomorrow’s storms.
We find ourselves coasting into northwestern Kansas this afternoon. The target’s not that clear today, but we’ll stop for lunch on I-70 and figure out where to go from there. We are still trying to determine if the image below from yesterday was a tornado
Today brought a Texas Panhandle chase as we set out from Amarillo and ended up on the storm Floydada. A few tornado reports came out for that storm, but I don’t know if anything we saw was actually a tornado (my first footage was from
The gang will be driving up to the Texas Caprock today in preparation for Thursday’s setup. There is a slight chance that a storm or two may go up today as well, so we’ll be keeping an eye on it just in case. Moisture will
We started the day not expecting much as far as tornadoes within our target area of central Texas. Persistent overcast and showers in the warm sector pretty much killed any hopes of a tornado as the cold front/cold pool undercutting the storms sealed the deal
