The first week of April was dominated by a tornado outbreak around Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas on the 3rd. At least 20 tornadoes touched down from Texas to Louisiana that day. They were mostly weak, but the strongest of the group was a powerful EF-3 which impacted parts of Forney, TX.

Around 1,000 homes were damaged or destroyed by the north Texas twisters, but fortunately no one died and there were few injuries. Despite the large number of weak tornadoes, the outbreak will go down as one of the largest in the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area in modern history.

Overall, there were 33 tornado reports throughout the week, the vast majority occurring on the 3rd. Two days were tornado report free, with reports on the other days in Texas, Louisiana, Missouri and Nebraska.
