Chasecation 2014 Day 3 - Wyoming Delivers

Yesterday met/exceeded expectations in our first ever storm chase in Wyoming. After driving from Mitchell, SD to Newcastle, WY, we decided to investigate a persistent storm that was near Wright. It turns out that we had the perfect east/west road to track the storm as it worked in a general eastward direction. The storm started to overtake the road as it approached us, and some small hail started to fall as we hit up a south road that helped us stay dry for the rest of the day. That storm ended up calling it quits fairly early, so we spent part of the evening positioning for today’s chase.

We are currently in western Nebraska, waiting to see what storm(s) may pop up over the area. It’s a nice change of pace having to only drive an hour to our target area after having covered nearly 2,000 miles in three days. Hopefully our luck from our first chase day will carry over the next few days where marginal setups are prevalent.
